Card payment fees in Finland 2026: payment terminal comparison

The fee for accepting cards is typically 0.8–1.95% of sales for a small business in Finland. Some providers also charge a fixed amount per payment or a monthly fee, so the cheapest option depends on how much you sell and how big the purchases are.

If you take less than about €1,600 a month by card and the average purchase is €30, SumUp is the cheapest: 1.49% with no monthly fee. Above that, Revolut Business works out cheaper, even though it requires a €10 monthly plan. Enter your own sales in the calculator below and it compares seven options using the published prices.

How are card payment costs calculated?

The calculator works out each provider’s monthly cost from three parts. The percentage fee is multiplied by your card sales, the fixed fee by the number of payments, and the monthly fee is added on top. The number of payments is your sales divided by the average purchase. For example, at €2,000 a month and a €30 average purchase there are about 67 payments. SumUp then charges €29.80, Revolut Business €27.33 including the Basic plan, and Zettle €39.00. The first-year cost is 12 months of fees plus the price of the reader. The calculator assumes customers pay with EEA consumer cards. For myPOS it also adds one €4 transfer to a bank account each month.

What makes up the cost of accepting cards?

There are four kinds of cost. The percentage fee is charged on every payment and is usually the largest part. Some providers add a fixed fee to each payment: Stripe €0.10 and myPOS €0.05. The monthly fee is €19 with SumUp Payments Plus and at least €10 with Revolut Business. The fourth cost is the reader, which you buy once.

The smaller the purchases, the more the fixed fee matters. With a €10 average purchase, Stripe’s €0.10 fee adds a full percentage point to every payment. A café or a market stall should therefore look at the fixed fee as well as the percentage.

The calculator compares consumer cards issued in the EEA, such as Finnish bank cards. Most providers charge more for American Express, business cards and cards issued outside the EEA, as the table shows. On SumUp’s standard plan the fee is the same for every card.

Money reaches your account at different speeds. SumUp pays out to a SumUp business account at 7 am the next morning and to other banks within 1–3 business days. Revolut settles within 24 hours and Nexi on the next banking day. Payments reach a myPOS account instantly, but a transfer to a bank account costs €4, so the calculator assumes one transfer a month.
