Pension · pension forecast 2026

Pension forecast in Finland 2026 — how much will you get?

Earnings-related pension accrues at 1.5% of your annual earnings every year. This calculator estimates your future monthly pension from your current salary and any pension already accrued, up to your lowest retirement age — and shows the amount both before and after the life-expectancy coefficient (2026: 0.94643), which reduces the starting pension.

It also shows how much your pension grows if you keep working past retirement age: you earn a deferral increment of 0.4% per postponed month and accrue new pension at the same time. Enter your year of birth, gross salary and, if you have it, the accrued pension from your työeläkeote statement.

The life-expectancy coefficient (0.94643) reduces the starting pension. It is confirmed for 2026; for younger cohorts the coefficient used here is only indicative, as future coefficients are not yet known.

Provisional. For people born in 1965 and later the retirement age is tied to life expectancy and not yet confirmed, so the number of working years and the forecast are indicative.

An indicative estimate under 2026 rules (accrual 1.5%/yr, coefficient 0.94643, deferral increment 0.4%/mo). The tool assumes continuous work at the current salary and ignores pay rises, unemployment, unpaid periods (see the pension-gap calculator) and index increases. It does not include Kela's national or guarantee pension. Check your exact forecast on your työeläkeote (Työeläke.fi).

How is earnings-related pension calculated?

Earnings-related pension accrues at 1.5% of your annual earnings for every working year (for example, a salary of €40,000/yr accrues about €50/mo of pension for one year). Accrued pension is added up over your whole career. When you retire, the starting pension is multiplied by the life-expectancy coefficient, which reduces the pension as life expectancy rises — in 2026 the coefficient is 0.94643. If you keep working past the lowest retirement age, you earn a deferral increment of 0.4% for each postponed month and accrue new pension at the same time, so your pension can grow substantially. This calculator estimates your monthly pension from your current salary and any pension already accrued.

How earnings-related pension is calculated

Earnings-related pension accrues at 1.5% of each year’s gross earnings across your whole career (from many unpaid periods too — see the pension-gap calculator). Accrued pension is revalued each year with the wage coefficient so it keeps its value. The most accurate starting figure is your own työeläkeote statement (available on työeläke.fi or via your pension company’s service), which shows the pension already accrued in euros per month.

When you retire, the starting pension is adjusted by the life-expectancy coefficient, which reduces the pension as life expectancy rises. In 2026 the coefficient is 0.94643 — it cuts the pension by about 5.4%. You can offset this cut by working a little longer.

Deferring grows the pension in two ways: the deferral increment is 0.4% for each month postponed past the lowest retirement age (4.8% per year), and continued work also accrues new pension at 1.5%. The calculator illustrates both effects.

Frequently asked questions

How much earnings-related pension accrues per year?

Pension accrues at 1.5% of the year’s gross earnings. From €40,000 a year, for example, €600 of annual pension accrues (€50/month). Accrual is revalued each year with the wage coefficient.

What is the life-expectancy coefficient in 2026?

In 2026 the life-expectancy coefficient is 0.94643. It reduces the starting old-age pension by about 5.4%. The coefficient ties the pension level to life expectancy, and its impact can be offset by working longer.

How much does my pension grow if I keep working?

You earn a deferral increment of 0.4% for each month past the lowest retirement age (4.8%/year) and accrue new pension at 1.5% as well. Together these can increase the pension noticeably.

Where can I see my accrued pension?

On your työeläkeote statement — in the työeläke.fi service or your own pension company’s online service. It shows the pension accrued so far in euros per month, the most accurate starting figure for the calculator.

Is this calculator an official estimate?

No. The calculator gives an indicative estimate from the details you enter. Your pension company or the työeläke.fi service provides the official forecast, taking your whole work history into account.
